I have tutored mathematics in the past ranging in difficulty level. I was a Calculus teachers assistant at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania for one year before transferring to Rutgers University. I am also a substitute teacher when I am home for breaks from school. I am extremely passionate about math and aspire to be a calculus teacher post graduation. I enjoy teaching very much, and am extremely patient. I have taken all basic math courses, calculus, calculus 2, linear algebra, and a math theory course. I am an extremely organized individual and find that it helps very much in preparation for tests.

Hobbies:

I play for the Women's Club Basketball Team here at Rutgers University, which is a step below the varsity team. I am a volunteer fire fighter at home, the first female in my town ever, in fact. I am very artistic-- I love painting, drawing, designing, etc.

I am currently a Junior English and Psychology Major at Rutgers University-New Brunswick.

Experience:

I have tutored kids of various ages in Math and Reading for a year at Kumon Learning Center from 2004-2005. Having been scored primarily as "proficient" in many of my standardized test scores, I have the experience and understanding to carry out what needs to be done to help exercise critical thinking and reasoning. I am a firm believer that students who have trouble with understanding reasoning behind Reading and Math is due to lack of enrichment of applicable study skills, dedicated teachers, and educational attention. As a tutor, I will focus on these aspects of what would constitute effective learning.
Some relevant classes I have taken are Expository Writing, Principles of Literary Study I and II, Medieval Literature and Shakespearean Literature; Calculus I, Quantitative Methods in Psychology, General Psychology and Personality Psychology.
Aside from my studies, I am avidly involved in student organizations that plan programs that encompass outreach to unfortunate people, education, political and media issues, such as the Rutgers Programming Association. I have also served for 3 years as Bible study, worship leader for Rutgers Chinese Christian Fellowship. This semester, I have worked as a volunteer at an Autism school where I am being trained the principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis; I have gained experienced with working with an autistic population from this.
Recently, I attended a Congressional seminar in Washington D.C. where women students at Rutgers are given the opportunity to meet with Congressmen and women and be trained in the legislative process.

Hobbies:

Some of my hobbies are playing the piano, guitar, and singing. I also like to plan trips and fun events occasionally. I am a big fan of the Yankees, so I like to watch baseball too.
