| Experience: | I have tutored kids of various ages in Math and Reading for a year at Kumon Learning Center from 2004-2005. Having been scored primarily as "proficient" in many of my standardized test scores, I have the experience and understanding to carry out what needs to be done to help exercise critical thinking and reasoning. I am a firm believer that students who have trouble with understanding reasoning behind Reading and Math is due to lack of enrichment of applicable study skills, dedicated teachers, and educational attention. As a tutor, I will focus on these aspects of what would constitute effective learning.
Some relevant classes I have taken are Expository Writing, Principles of Literary Study I and II, Medieval Literature and Shakespearean Literature; Calculus I, Quantitative Methods in Psychology, General Psychology and Personality Psychology.
Aside from my studies, I am avidly involved in student organizations that plan programs that encompass outreach to unfortunate people, education, political and media issues, such as the Rutgers Programming Association. I have also served for 3 years as Bible study, worship leader for Rutgers Chinese Christian Fellowship. This semester, I have worked as a volunteer at an Autism school where I am being trained the principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis; I have gained experienced with working with an autistic population from this.
Recently, I attended a Congressional seminar in Washington D.C. where women students at Rutgers are given the opportunity to meet with Congressmen and women and be trained in the legislative process. |
| Hobbies: | Some of my hobbies are playing the piano, guitar, and singing. I also like to plan trips and fun events occasionally. I am a big fan of the Yankees, so I like to watch baseball too. |
