Experience
I have been involved in math education my whole life. When I was a child, my grandfather and I developed a game to demonstrate the concept of algebraic operation through flipping a cube. Different flips of the cube correspond to different algebraic operations and their inverses, and one sees various rules of operation emerge. Since then I have taken an interest in developing teaching aids for all areas of mathematics. From high school onward I took on many private math students, mainly in SAT material, Algebra, Geometry, and Calculus. I am able to teach any math class through Calc 5, as well as SAT and Statistics. I find that my greatest asset as a math instructor is my ability to explain the same concept in multitude of different ways until I find a way that resonates with the student’s understanding. It seems that kids often struggle in math not by lack of intelligence, but from some sort of language barrier between them and their school teacher. Over the years, I have trained myself to first get a feel for how the student thinks before bombarding them with explanations.
