Experience

-I have tutored for the last decade or so and have a long list of references for all levels of math tutoring, from elementary Arithmetic to intermediate Calculus. I have gathered clientele primarily through word of mouth since high school. -I specialize in high school/middle school/college Pre-Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Algebra 1-3, Pre-Calculus, and SAT tutoring (2190 SAT composite; 800 SAT math.) -My biggest strength as a tutor is the ability to sense and determine how each individual student learns, then help them understand course materials in a way suited to their personal learning style. I write and review practice problems designed individually for each student. -I have seen students graduate high school, college, and masters programs, but what I have mostly seen is the gears turning as students focus to understand mathematics. The "aha" moment when something clicks and somebody sees a problem differently and understands how to make it work- where a foreign language becomes a puzzle that they just solved- is my inspiration to tutor math. -I have a variable schedule based on the needs of my clients, so scheduling is best carried out via phone or email.

Hobbies

-In my spare time, I enjoy playing basketball and guitar among other sports and instruments. -I love New Jersey and value the rich mixture of cultures I have been exposed to throughout my life and the nearby cities I have been able to visit. I would like to continue to see and experience as much of the world as I can as time goes by. -I love getting back to nature when I can. When weather and schedule permit it, I can nearly always be found at the park or taking day trips out into open space via bike, boat, or car. -I volunteer at the Better World Cafe in Highland Park and Elijah's Promise soup kitchen in New Brunswick. I aspire to one day organize a cooperative that connects shelters and soup kitchens like those mentioned with entry-level employers to give homeless people another chance to earn their own way in society.
