I have a BS in Physics with a Math, Education Minor from Rutgers, where i graduated in 2011. I tutored privately for a year or so and then went back and got a MEd (Masters of Education) in Science Education, with a focus on 1 on 1 tutoring practices from Rutgers Graduate School of Education in 2015
Experience
I've been tutoring privately and with various Rutgers organizations for the last 5 years, with over 300 satisfied students in all manner of subjects. My Masters degree gives me a very unique way to teach the subject of Physics, and in turn, math, by trying to look at the complex interlocking equations of Physics and explain them at their base, conceptual level. It is my tried and tested belief that if a student can get a grasp on the concepts in Physics and Mathematics, most problems after will become an overall simpler calculating experience, making homework, tests, and even just looking at the world around you and understanding the patterns a fuller, correct, and more complete experience. As such, I always try to include real world examples of difficult concepts, so that the student can see this difficult idea in action, and begin to form an idea of how it works. The single best result I've ever gotten from this type of tutoring was after teaching one of these concepts, having one of my students sit their parents down and explain to their parents the same concept. Watching knowledge be passed along from a student who started out a novice and had grown to this level of skill and understanding validated everything about why I tutor. I hope to get the chance to work with you and have that same kind of learning experience.
